Course Description

Distance Learning – suggested 3 months part-time study (Nominal hours 60)

In our short course Certificate in Herbal Gardening: A Practical Guide, we provide students with a strong foundational knowledge of how to grow, harvest, and store herbs.

Growing herbal plants may be more time consuming than buying them, but it brings with it the unique pleasure of producing your own creations.

Many herbs are easy to grow and will flourish when placed in the right environment. Students will learn how some herbs can be collected all year round, while others have particular growing seasons and must be harvested or used immediately to be preserved for extended use.

Herbs need to be processed quickly to prevent deterioration and retain their healing properties. Learning the foundation principles of herbal horticulture will put the student in good success when creating their own garden.

Students will be introduced to physical characteristics of plants, identify plant specimens and describe relationships between plants and their environments. This is especially important to ensure that students remain safe when foraging for herbs.

There is no doubt the information learned in this course is an inspiring journey to encourage the green thumbs!
